Corona, iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak For Non-A5 Devices Released!

@pod2g has been working very hard on an untether exploit he found a few weeks ago. He recently decided to give the exploit to the Chronic Dev Team an the iPhone Dev Team to release it for non-A5 devices. Because the new A5 processor, used in both the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S, does not apply to GeoHot’s limera1n exploit, it is much harder to jailbreak those devices. @pod2g is still working on a jailbreak for the remaining two devices.

As always, you should not update your device if a new firmware is available because the untether exploit will most likely be patched.

iOS 5.0 Untether Jailbreak By Pod2g Showcased on YouTube, Release Imminent? (Video)

@pod2g recently uploaded a video showing his jailbroken iPod Touch 3G running iOS 5.0. We heard from pod2g a while ago that he found an untether exploit in iOS 5. It is a userland exploit, so we could see another version of jailbreakme.com. Obviously he can’t give us details on how the exploit works just yet, because he doesn’t want Apple to patch the bug before he releases the jailbreak. He now tries to jailbreak 5.0.1 as well, then he will start working on the iPhone 4, iPad 1 and iPod Touch 4G. After that he will try to port it to the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Continue reading

iPhone Battery Issues Not Fixed In Recent iOS 5.0.1 Update

iPhone Battery

Apple released a new firmware update yesterday that was supposed to fix the iPhone battery issues. Apple now confirms to AllThingsD that they didn’t fully fix the battery problems in this update.

“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”

If you haven’t updated to iOS 5.0.1 yet and may want to jailbreak your iOS device, you should not update because the untether exploit from pod2g might not work on 5.0.1.
