Eric Day, the developer of Siri0us, is now looking for free alternatives to Nuance’s voice recognition technology. Those of you who already have Siri0us installed are still able to use it, but it might stop working soon.
There are a lot of people reporting that they have some mayor issues with Siri0us. Some report that the mail app broke, others say safari isn’t working anymore. So we wouldn’t recommend installing Siri0us at this point (there are still ways to get the package through other repos).
The hackers are still working hard on a Siri Port to the iPhone 4, but it seems like we still have to wait a while until it is fully ported. In the meantime we can use the new Siri0us Tweak to enable Siri Dictation on any iOS 5 device without any iPhone 4S keys.
The reason why Siri0us works without any iPhone 4S authentication keys is that Siri0us is actually based on nuance dictation.
Siri0us works on all devices running iOS 5 such as the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and the iPad 1. iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 are supported.
@StanTheRipper, the developer of Sirisn0w, recently tweeted that he organized some Siri files. Two hours later he tweeted that Siri almost works. Like you see in the picture on the left, Siri now tries to establish a connection to Apple’s Servers, but it doesn’t yet succeed. Siri now also talks to you.
StanTheRipper also tweeted that he can’t release the files due to copyright issues (Read chpwn‘s blog post for more details). This means that we may not see Sirisn0w being updated in the near future.
StanTheRipper uploaded a video showing the current state of his port on the iPhone 4:
@StanTheRipper released SiriSn0w, a package for Cydia that will install the Siri UI on your iPhone 4. I still would NOT recommend installing this package or any other Siri UI, as it doesn’t connect to Apple’s servers and therefore is useless.
WARNING: There are a lot of people who report that their phone is stuck while respringing. I would wait to install this package until all the bugs are cleared out.
